Roland's PCMCIA Card SCP-55 can be used in most portable computers with a PCMCIA slot (type II). It does not take up more space than a couple of credit cards, but it contains a full-blown Roland Sound Canvas MIDI sound module plus a Microsoft Sound System compatible sound chip for wave.
THE REAL ROLAND SOUND CANVAS
Where other computer sound card manufacturers claims Sound Canvas "compatibility" this card contains the REAL Roland Sound Canvas - no "emulation". This chip in the SCP-55 is the same as in the world famous SC-55 MKII - now the de-facto standard for high-end computer music sound.
Of course it is "compatible" with any GM or GS music software or data.
MPU-401 MIDI INTERFACE
SCP-55 contains the industry standard MPU-401 MIDI interface (UART) making communication between external devices like keyboards and extra sound modules easy.
PCM/WAVE PAR IN VERY HIGH QUALITY
SCP-55 contains a Microsoft Sound System compatible wave part for compatibility with business software and applications like speech recognition. Roland audio chips ensures the highest possible sound quality, and you may easily use this compact card for your music studio.
The sound chip features full 44.1 kHz, 16 bit stereo for full CD quality. Additionally you may choose 8 bit ADPCM for very compact files for use in less demanding applications like narration for presentations or multimedia.
The Roland chips also gives you high quality digital reverb and Chorus on the MIDI and Wave parts.
VERSATILE CONNECTION OPTIONS
The included connection box is very compact, but never the less it contains a connector for a microphone (mono) and stereo line in/out's.
You may add an optional extended box with MIDI IN, MIDI OUT and joystick connection making your SCP-55 sound card the corner stone in a true music studio or a professional game setup.
INCLUDED MIDI SOFTWARE MAKES EVERYTHING EASY
Included in the package is the famous Roland DoReMiX software, that makes music song creation a breeze: Just drag the musical icons onto the musical "spreadsheet" and you have made your own music. Save it as a MIDI file, and use it anywhere without royalties.
